Our Story
Our Aim
- To work for the upliftment of the farmers through dairy activities,
- To provide better marketing facilities at their doorstep,
- To provide a better purchase rate of milk.
- To resolve the unemployment problem and work on the principle of NO LOSS-NO PROFIT
Our Journey
In the beginning of the year 2009 the milk collection of our organisation was approximately 3000 liters per day from about 700 families of fifteen Gram Panchayats of this area, but there were some notable problems which our N.G.O. was facing e.g. proper space/building was not there, from where the activities can be launched smoothly and second major problem was that although the people of this area were ready to increase the milk production but due to short-self life of milk, the NGO was unable to collect/purchase more quantity due to non-availability of milk pasteurization Plant.
Our Helping Hand
During the travel of last nineteen years many departments/organisation have helped us and some notable are mentioned below:-
- Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of H.P.
- Department of Industries, H.P.
- NABARD
- D.R.D.A. Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh
- HP MID HIMALAYA WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT PROJECT.
Features of our Organisation
Presently there are 4500 milk Producer families of 350 villages of 65 Gram-Panchayts of Distt. Bilaspur & Solan associated with the organisation having about 32,000 litres milk Collection per day.(two times)
The minimum purchase rate of milk is Rs.32.16/- per litre of 3.6% fat and 8.0 % SNF and maximum upto Rs. 42/- as per the quality of the milk.
To run the milk plant for processing of milk, cattle feed plant and allied activities etc, 107 youths are engaged. There are 60 vehicles engaged on contract basis for collection and distribution of milk and 20 Auto owners are there for distribution of milk at the doorstep of the consumers in the various towns.
Due to Pasteurization facility now the self life of the milk has increased and the spoilage of milk has stopped. Also the surplus milk is used for the preparation of milk products e.g. Curd, Ghee, Khoa Sweets etc, which again generates employment.
Kamdhenu Kalyan Trust is there to help the milk producers in case of any emergency/causality. They also provide help to the needy and remain always active in different kinds of social activities.
With the help of NABARD we have formed 136 Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Distt Bilaspur and 100 SHGs in Distt Solan of Himachal Pradesh.
There are 43 collection routes to collect the milk from the doorstep of the milk producers and now they have no marketing problem.
With the assistance of NABARD and other various departments/organisations, the Kamdhenu is conducting the farming Camps of milk Producers to provide training, quality fodder seeds, feed supplements, medicines, clean milking programs, exposure visits both inside and outside the state.
The organisations is helping to provide easy loans to the milk producers at a simple rate of Interest from their own savings which are deposited in Kamdhenu Thrift and Credit Cooperative Society.
